Sometimes you just need to treat yourself, and for me, that’s a perfectly caramelized crème brûlée. It feels so luxurious and special.
Classic Crème Brûlée
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 5 large egg yolks
- Extra sugar for caramelizing
Steps
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Heat cream, 1/2 cup sugar, and vanilla until simmering.
- Whisk egg yolks separately. Slowly temper yolks with warm cream mixture.
- Pour custard into ramekins. Place ramekins in a baking dish and fill with hot water halfway up the sides.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until edges are set but centers jiggle. Chill for at least 4 hours. Before serving, sprinkle with sugar and caramelize with a torch.
