Simple Tomato Basil Pasta

Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti or linguine
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese for serving

Steps

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.
  2. While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add cherry tomatoes and cook for 5-7 minutes until they begin to burst. Stir in cooked pasta, chopped basil, and a splash of reserved pasta water to create a light sauce.
  4. Season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately, topped with Parmesan cheese.
