Traditional Japanese Miso Soup
Ingredients
- 4 cups dashi (Japanese soup stock)
- 3 tbsp white miso paste
- 4 oz silken tofu, diced
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1/2 sheet nori, cut into thin strips
Steps
- 1. Bring dashi to a gentle simmer in a pot. Do not boil.
- 2. In a small bowl, dissolve miso paste in a ladleful of hot dashi, then add the mixture back to the pot. Stir well.
- 3. Add diced tofu and let it warm through for 2-3 minutes. Do not boil after adding miso.
- 4. Ladle into bowls, garnish with sliced green onions and nori strips. Serve immediately.
