NostalgicUSAClassic Apple Pie

Whenever I’m feeling a bit nostalgic for my grandma’s kitchen, I bake an apple pie. The smell just instantly takes me back to happy childhood memories.

Simple Apple Pie

1 hour 30 minutes • Medium

Ingredients

  • 1 double pie crust (store-bought)
  • 6 medium apples (like Granny Smith), sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Line a 9-inch pie plate with one pie crust. In a large bowl, toss apples with sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Spoon apple mixture into the crust. Dot with butter pieces. Top with the second pie crust, crimping edges to seal.
  4. Cut a few slits in the top crust. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 375°F (190°C) and bake for another 35-45 minutes, or until golden brown.
