Whenever I’m feeling a bit down, my mom’s apple pie recipe is my go-to. The smell alone brings back so many happy childhood memories and always lifts my spirits.
Classic Apple Pie
Ingredients
- 1 double-crust pie pastry
- 6 cups sliced apples
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp butter
Steps
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
- Line a 9-inch pie plate with one pastry crust. Fill with apple mixture; dot with butter.
- Top with the second pastry crust, crimp edges, and cut slits in the top. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Reduce heat to 375°F (190°C) and bake for another 35-45 minutes, or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
