Comforting Dal Tadka

Ingredients

  • Toor dal (split pigeon peas)
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Cumin seeds
  • Turmeric
  • Ghee
  • Fresh cilantro

Steps

  1. Cook toor dal in water until soft and mushy.
  2. In a separate pan, heat ghee and temper cumin seeds, then add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
  3. Stir in chopped tomato and turmeric, cooking until tomatoes soften.
  4. Combine the cooked dal with the tempered spices, simmer briefly, and adjust seasoning.
  5. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
