Soothing Dal Makhani
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup whole black lentils (urad dal)
- 1/4 cup kidney beans (rajma)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 can (14.5 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp butter
- Ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, cumin powder
Steps
- Soak lentils and kidney beans overnight. Drain and rinse.
- Pressure cook lentils and beans until very tender (or simmer for 1.5 hours).
- In a separate pan, sauté onion until golden. Add ginger-garlic paste, spices, and tomatoes. Cook until oil separates.
- Add cooked lentils and beans to the pan. Stir in cream and butter. Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Serve hot with naan or rice.
