Simple Arepas
Ingredients
- 2 cups pre-cooked white cornmeal (masarepa)
- 2 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp oil
- Your favorite fillings (cheese, avocado, ham)
Steps
- Combine masarepa and salt in a bowl. Gradually add warm water, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead for 2-3 minutes until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes.
- Form dough into small, thick patties. Lightly brush with oil.
- Cook on a preheated griddle or pan for 7-10 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Serve warm with fillings.
