Classic Beef Empanadas

1 hour • Medium

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 12 empanada discs (store-bought)

Steps

  1. Brown ground beef in a skillet. Drain excess fat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened.
  2. Stir in beef broth, cumin, and paprika. Simmer until liquid is mostly absorbed. Season with salt and pepper; let cool.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place a spoonful of beef filling on one half of each empanada disc.
  4. Fold the disc over to form a half-moon. Crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
  5. Place empanadas on a baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.
