Simple California Rolls
Ingredients
- 2 cups sushi rice (cooked and seasoned)
- 4 sheets nori seaweed
- 1 cucumber (julienned)
- 1 avocado (sliced)
- 4 imitation crab sticks (halved lengthwise)
- Soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger for serving
Steps
- Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo rolling mat, shiny side down. Spread about 1/2 cup of seasoned sushi rice evenly over the nori, leaving a 1/2 inch border at the top.
- Arrange cucumber, avocado, and crab sticks horizontally across the bottom third of the rice.
- Carefully roll the mat tightly from the bottom, pressing gently to form a cylinder. Moisten the top edge of the nori with a little water to seal.
- Using a sharp, wet knife, slice the roll into 6-8 pieces. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Serve immediately with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
