When I’m celebrating something special or just feeling incredibly joyful, I always crave mango sticky rice. Its sweetness is like pure happiness in a bowl!

Simple Mango Sticky Rice

1 hour 30 minutes • Medium

Ingredients

  • 1 cup glutinous rice
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 ripe mangoes
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse glutinous rice thoroughly, then soak for at least 1 hour.
  2. Steam the soaked rice for 20-25 minutes until cooked.
  3. In a saucepan, heat coconut milk, sugar, and salt until sugar dissolves. Set aside 1/4 cup of this mixture for topping.
  4. Pour the remaining coconut milk mixture over the hot steamed rice and stir well. Let it sit for 15 minutes to absorb.
  5. Slice mangoes and serve with the sticky rice, drizzled with the reserved coconut sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds.
