When I’m trying to unwind on a Friday evening, there’s nothing quite like traditional fish and chips. It’s my go-to for a truly relaxed night in.

Crispy Baked Fish and Chips

50 minutes • Medium

Ingredients

  • 2 large potatoes, cut into fries
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cod fillets
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss potatoes with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Bake for 30 minutes, flipping halfway.
  2. Dip cod fillets in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place fish on a separate baking sheet. Bake alongside chips for the last 15-20 minutes, or until fish is flaky.
  4. Serve hot with lemon wedges or tartar sauce.
