Feeling a bit homesick today, so I’m making my granny’s Shepherd’s Pie. It always brings me back to simpler times and warm family dinners.

Hearty Shepherd's Pie

Ingredients

  • 500g ground lamb or beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1kg potatoes, mashed
  • 1/2 cup beef broth

Steps

  1. Brown meat with onion and carrots in a pan, then add peas and broth. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Spoon the meat mixture into an oven-safe dish.
  3. Top with mashed potatoes and bake at 180C (350F) for 30 minutes until golden brown.
