When I’m feeling truly happy and want a taste of home, Shepherd’s Pie is my go-to. It’s such a comforting, hearty meal that always brings a smile to my face. Reminds me of family dinners and good times.
Classic Shepherd's Pie
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 cup peas
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 lbs potatoes, mashed
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Sauté onion, then brown ground meat in olive oil. Drain fat.
- Stir in carrot, peas, beef broth, and tomato paste. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Combine mashed potatoes with milk and butter. Season well.
- Spoon meat mixture into a baking dish, then top with mashed potatoes. Fluff with a fork.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
