Hearty Shepherd's Pie
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and mashed
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat oil in a large skillet. Brown ground meat, drain fat. Add onion and carrots, cook until softened. Stir in peas, broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Spoon meat mixture into a baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes, spread evenly. Create peaks with a fork.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
