On my day off, I love nothing more than ordering a beautifully arranged platter of sushi. It’s a treat that helps me unwind and truly appreciate the quiet moments.

Simple California Rolls

40 minutes • Medium

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice, cooked
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • Nori (seaweed) sheets
  • 1/2 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Imitation crab sticks

Steps

  1. After cooking, mix rice with rice vinegar. Let cool to room temperature.
  2. Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo mat. Spread a thin layer of rice evenly over the nori, leaving a border.
  3. Arrange cucumber, avocado, and crab sticks in a line across the center of the rice.
  4. Carefully roll the mat tightly from one end, sealing the edge with a little water. Slice into pieces.
