When I need to clear my head and focus, preparing sushi rolls is almost meditative for me. The precision and fresh ingredients just bring a sense of calm.

Simple Salmon Avocado Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice, cooked and seasoned
  • 4 sheets nori
  • 4 oz sushi-grade salmon, thinly sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Soy sauce for serving

Steps

  1. Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo mat. Spread a thin layer of sushi rice evenly over the nori, leaving a border.
  2. Arrange salmon and avocado slices in a line across the center of the rice.
  3. Carefully roll the mat tightly, pressing firmly to form a cylinder. Moisten the edge of the nori to seal.
  4. Slice the roll into 6-8 pieces using a sharp, wet knife. Serve with soy sauce.
