After a long day of hiking, all I want to do is kick back and truly relax. There’s nothing quite as satisfying and comforting as a plate of classic fish and chips. It’s simple, perfect, and exactly what I need to unwind.

Crispy Fish and Chips

30 minutes • Medium

Ingredients

  • Cod fillets
  • Flour
  • Beer (or sparkling water)
  • Potatoes
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt and vinegar

Steps

  1. Peel and cut potatoes into thick chips, soak in cold water, then pat dry.
  2. Make a batter by whisking flour and beer/water.
  3. Dip fish fillets in batter.
  4. Deep fry chips until golden and crispy, then fry fish until golden.
  5. Season generously with salt and serve with vinegar.
