When I need a comforting treat, especially on a rainy day, a warm apple crumble always hits the spot. The sweet, spiced apples and crunchy topping are pure bliss.
Classic Apple Crumble

- 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar (for apples)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Toss sliced apples with sugar and cinnamon. Spread in an 8x8 inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine flour, oats, and brown sugar. Cut in cold butter with your fingers or a pastry blender until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender. Serve warm, perhaps with custard or ice cream.
