Classic Scottish Shortbread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Press dough into an 8-inch round pan or roll out and cut into shapes. Prick with a fork.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until lightly golden. Cool completely before cutting.
