Making dumplings with my family always puts me in a thoughtful mood. It’s a slow, meticulous process that allows for quiet conversation and reflection.
Pork & Cabbage Potstickers
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground pork
- 2 cups napa cabbage, finely chopped
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 package round dumpling wrappers
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for cooking)
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine ground pork, cabbage, green onions, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.
- Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of a dumpling wrapper. Moisten edges with water and fold in half, pinching to seal and create pleats.
- Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place dumplings in a single layer and cook until bottoms are golden brown.
- Add 1/2 cup water to the skillet, cover immediately, and steam for 8-10 minutes until water evaporates and pork is cooked through. Serve with dipping sauce.
