When life gets a bit too much and I feel overwhelmed, a simple grilled cheese sandwich is my safe haven. It’s the ultimate no-fuss, instant comfort meal.

Classic Cheesy Grilled Cheese

10 minutes • Easy

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened
  • Optional: a slice of tomato or ham

Steps

  1. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  2. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  3. Top with cheese (and optional fillings), then cover with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
  4. Cook for 3-5 minutes per side, or until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly. Slice diagonally and serve warm.
