Simple California Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 cup sushi rice
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- Nori sheets
- 1 avocado, sliced
- Crab sticks or cooked shrimp
Steps
- Cook sushi rice according to package directions. Mix rice vinegar and sugar, then fold into warm rice.
- Place a nori sheet on a bamboo mat. Spread a thin layer of rice evenly over the nori, leaving a border.
- Arrange avocado slices and crab sticks (or shrimp) in a line across the center of the rice.
- Carefully roll the mat tightly, pressing gently. Wet the edge of the nori to seal.
- Slice the roll into 6-8 pieces with a wet knife. Serve with soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi.
