I love trying new things, and sushi always feels like an adventure in a bite! Each roll is a little surprise of flavors and textures. It truly sparks my adventurous spirit.

Simple California Rolls

40 minutes • Medium

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sushi rice
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Nori sheets
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Crab sticks or cooked shrimp

Steps

  1. Cook sushi rice according to package directions. Mix rice vinegar and sugar, then fold into warm rice.
  2. Place a nori sheet on a bamboo mat. Spread a thin layer of rice evenly over the nori, leaving a border.
  3. Arrange avocado slices and crab sticks (or shrimp) in a line across the center of the rice.
  4. Carefully roll the mat tightly, pressing gently. Wet the edge of the nori to seal.
  5. Slice the roll into 6-8 pieces with a wet knife. Serve with soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi.
