Simple Yellow Dal
Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow lentils (moong dal)
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 inch ginger, grated
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil
Steps
- Rinse lentils thoroughly. Combine lentils, water, and turmeric in a pot. Bring to a boil, then simmer until soft (about 20-25 mins).
- In a separate small pan, heat ghee/oil. Add chopped onion and grated ginger, sauté until fragrant.
- Pour the sautéed mixture into the cooked dal. Stir well and simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
- Season with salt to taste and serve hot.
