NostalgicUSAApple Pie

Whenever I’m feeling a bit nostalgic for my grandma’s kitchen, nothing beats a warm slice of apple pie. The smell alone brings back so many happy memories.

Classic Apple Pie

1 hour 30 minutes • Medium

Ingredients

  • 1 double pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Fuji), sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
  3. Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate. Fill with apple mixture, dot with butter, and top with the second crust. Crimp edges and cut vents.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 375°F (190°C) and bake for another 35-45 minutes, or until crust is golden and apples are tender.
  5. Let cool before serving.
