Sam's Weekend Fish and Chips
Ingredients
- 2 cod fillets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cold beer
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Potatoes for chips
- Vegetable oil for frying
Steps
- Cut potatoes into chip-sized pieces. Fry in oil at 325F (160C) until soft, then remove. Increase oil temp to 375F (190C).
- Whisk together flour, beer, and baking powder for batter. Pat fish dry and dip into batter.
- Fry fish in hot oil for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Return chips to hot oil and fry until crispy and golden.
- Serve immediately with salt and vinegar.
