Making dumplings with my family always puts me in a thoughtful mood. It’s a slow, meticulous process that allows for quiet conversation and reflection.

Pork & Cabbage Potstickers

1 hour 30 minutes • Medium

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 2 cups napa cabbage, finely chopped
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 package round dumpling wrappers
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for cooking)

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground pork, cabbage, green onions, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.
  2. Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of a dumpling wrapper. Moisten edges with water and fold in half, pinching to seal and create pleats.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place dumplings in a single layer and cook until bottoms are golden brown.
  4. Add 1/2 cup water to the skillet, cover immediately, and steam for 8-10 minutes until water evaporates and pork is cooked through. Serve with dipping sauce.
