Hearty Shepherd's Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and mashed
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet. Brown ground meat, drain fat. Add onion and carrots, cook until softened. Stir in peas, broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Spoon meat mixture into a baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes, spread evenly. Create peaks with a fork.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbly.
