Few things leave me as utterly satisfied as a perfectly cooked steak frites. It’s a simple pleasure done right.

Classic Steak Frites

Ingredients

  • Sirloin or ribeye steak
  • Potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold)
  • Butter
  • Garlic cloves
  • Fresh rosemary
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Steps

  1. Cut potatoes into fries and fry or bake until golden and crispy.
  2. Pat steak dry and season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over high heat until smoking. Sear steak for 2-4 minutes per side for desired doneness.
  4. Add butter, crushed garlic, and rosemary to the pan, basting the steak. Let steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with fries.
