Simple Dal Tadka
Ingredients
- 1 cup toor dal
- 3 cups water
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp ghee or oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green chili, chopped
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Steps
- Wash dal and cook with water and turmeric in a pressure cooker or pot until soft.
- In a separate pan, heat ghee/oil. Add cumin seeds, then onion, garlic, and green chili; sauté until golden.
- Stir in red chili powder, then immediately add the cooked dal. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or roti.
