There’s just something about the crack of the caramelized sugar on a Crème Brûlée that instantly makes any occasion feel special. It’s my go-to treat when there’s something to celebrate. Pure joy!
Classic Crème Brûlée
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 5 large egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Extra sugar for topping
Steps
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Heat cream and sugar in a saucepan until sugar dissolves (do not boil).
- Whisk egg yolks and vanilla in a bowl. Slowly whisk in hot cream mixture.
- Pour custard into ramekins set in a baking dish. Fill dish with hot water halfway up ramekins.
- Bake 30-35 minutes until edges are set but centers jiggle slightly. Chill for at least 4 hours.
- Sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize with a kitchen torch or under broiler.
