Whenever I’m feeling a bit nostalgic for my grandma’s kitchen, I bake an apple pie. The smell just instantly takes me back to happy childhood memories.
Simple Apple Pie
Ingredients
- 1 double pie crust (store-bought)
- 6 medium apples (like Granny Smith), sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
Steps
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Line a 9-inch pie plate with one pie crust. In a large bowl, toss apples with sugar and cinnamon.
- Spoon apple mixture into the crust. Dot with butter pieces. Top with the second pie crust, crimping edges to seal.
- Cut a few slits in the top crust. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 375°F (190°C) and bake for another 35-45 minutes, or until golden brown.
