Classic Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
  4. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until edges are golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
