After a busy day, a simple bowl of miso soup brings me such a sense of calm. The gentle warmth and savory flavor always help me unwind.

Traditional Miso Soup

15 minutes • Easy

Ingredients

  • 4 cups dashi (fish stock)
  • 1/4 cup miso paste
  • 4 oz silken tofu, cubed
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 sheet nori, cut into small strips

Steps

  1. Heat dashi in a pot until just simmering. Do not boil.
  2. Remove a small amount of dashi and dissolve miso paste in it. Return to the pot and stir well.
  3. Add tofu and cook for 2-3 minutes, without boiling, to warm through.
  4. Ladle into bowls and garnish with green onions and nori strips. Serve immediately.
