Simple California Roll

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sushi rice, cooked and seasoned
  • 2 sheets nori seaweed
  • 1/2 avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber, julienned
  • 2 crab sticks (surimi), split lengthwise
  • Soy sauce and wasabi for serving

Steps

  1. Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo rolling mat. Spread a thin, even layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at one end.
  2. Arrange avocado, cucumber, and crab sticks in a line across the center of the rice.
  3. Carefully roll the mat tightly from one end, gently pressing to seal. Moisten the un-riced border to seal the roll.
  4. Slice the roll into 6-8 pieces using a wet, sharp knife. Serve with soy sauce and wasabi.
