EnergeticBrazilFeijoada

When I need a burst of energy to tackle a big project or just enjoy a lively day, a hearty plate of feijoada always does the trick. It’s robust, flavorful, and keeps me going for hours.

Brazilian Power Feijoada (Simplified)

1 hour 30 mins (plus soaking) • Medium

Ingredients

  • 1 cup black beans, soaked overnight
  • 1/2 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1/2 lb pork belly, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups water or broth
  • Rice for serving

Steps

  1. Drain and rinse soaked beans. Cook beans in fresh water until tender.
  2. In a separate pan, brown sausage and pork belly. Remove meat, reserving some fat.
  3. Sauté onion and garlic in reserved fat until fragrant. Add cooked beans, meat, and water/broth. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour, allowing flavors to meld and sauce to thicken. Serve hot with rice.
