Classic Beef & Bean Chili
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15oz) kidney beans, rinsed
- 1 can (15oz) black beans, rinsed
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper
Steps
- Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Brown ground beef and onion. Drain excess fat. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, and cumin. Bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or green onions.
