Classic Beef & Bean Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15oz) kidney beans, rinsed
  • 1 can (15oz) black beans, rinsed
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper

Steps

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Brown ground beef and onion. Drain excess fat. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  2. Stir in crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, and cumin. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve hot with your favorite toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or green onions.
