After a long week, a good old plate of fish and chips really helps me unwind. There’s something so simple and satisfying about it that just makes me feel completely relaxed.

Crispy Beer-Battered Fish and Chips

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs cod fillets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup cold beer
  • Potatoes for chips
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Steps

  1. Cut potatoes into chip-sized pieces. Fry in hot oil until golden and crispy; drain.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and beer to form a smooth batter.
  3. Dip fish fillets into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.
  4. Carefully lower battered fish into hot oil and fry for 4-6 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels and serve immediately with chips.
