When I need a moment of peace, I brew myself a warm matcha latte. The earthy flavor and soothing warmth instantly make me feel serene and centered. It’s my little ritual for calm.

Simple Hot Matcha Latte

5 minutes • Easy

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp ceremonial grade matcha powder
  • 2 oz hot water (not boiling)
  • 6 oz milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tsp sweetener (honey or maple syrup, optional)

Steps

  1. Sift matcha powder into a small bowl or matcha bowl to prevent lumps.
  2. Add hot water to the matcha powder. Whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small frother until frothy and smooth.
  3. Heat milk in a saucepan or microwave until hot but not boiling. If desired, froth the milk.
  4. Pour the whisked matcha into your mug. Add sweetener if using, then gently pour in the hot milk.
  5. Stir gently and enjoy the serene moment.
