After a big family meal, a warm apple crumble always makes me feel incredibly grateful for good food and good company. It’s a simple dessert, but it brings so much happiness. Pure comfort and warmth!

Classic Apple Crumble

Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, diced

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, combine sliced apples, 1/4 cup sugar, and cinnamon.
  2. For the crumble topping: In a bowl, combine flour, oats, and remaining 1/4 cup sugar.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using your fingertips or a pastry blender until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
  5. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown and crispy. Serve warm, perhaps with ice cream.
