Classic Homestyle Apple Pie
Ingredients
- 6-8 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 pre-made pie crust (or homemade)
Steps
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Peel, core, and slice apples. In a large bowl, toss apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate. Fill with apple mixture.
- Top with second pie crust, crimp edges, and cut a few slits for steam. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 375°F (190°C) and bake for another 35-45 minutes, or until golden brown and apples are tender.
