Classic Crispy Fish and Chips
Ingredients
- 2 large cod fillets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup cold sparkling water
- 4 large potatoes
- Vegetable oil for frying
Steps
- Cut potatoes into thick chips, soak in cold water for 15 mins, then pat dry.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry chips until golden and crispy; drain.
- For batter, whisk flour, baking powder, and sparkling water. Dip cod fillets in batter.
- Fry fish in hot oil for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and cooked through; drain.
- Serve hot with salt, vinegar, and crispy chips.
