Hearty Shepherd's Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 carrots (chopped)
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup milk

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Heat oil in a large skillet, brown ground meat, then drain fat. Add onion and carrots, cook until softened.
  2. Stir in peas, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 10-15 minutes until sauce thickens. Pour mixture into a baking dish.
  3. Top evenly with mashed potatoes, spreading to the edges. Dot with butter.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
