Ultimate Creamy Mac and Cheese
Ingredients
- 1 lb elbow macaroni
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1/2 tsp dry mustard
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Steps
- 1. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- 2. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
- 3. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened. Stir in dry mustard and paprika.
- 4. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Add cooked macaroni, stir to coat, season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.
