Grandma's Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • Pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • Granulated sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Butter
  • Lemon juice

Steps

  1. Prepare pie crust and fit one half into a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Peel, core, and slice apples. Toss with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. Fill the pie crust with the apple mixture, dot with small pieces of butter. Top with the second pie crust, crimp edges, and cut vents.
  4. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes, then reduce to 375°F (190°C) and bake for another 35-45 minutes until golden brown and apples are tender.
